CM’s Delhi visit fuels speculation of Cabinet rejig, Kamat’s induction

GUILHERME ALMEIDA | FEBRUARY 23, 2025, 12:31 AM IST

Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant’s visit to the national capital for the swearing in ceremony of Delhi CM Rekha Gupta has fuelled speculations over a Cabinet rejig and plans to induct Congress-turned-BJP Margao MLA Diggu in the Cabinet. In fact, strong rumours did the rounds in the commercial capital that Diggu is not only set to be inducted in the Cabinet, but may even get the prized PWD portfolio. Political observers even sought to attribute the bifurcation of water supply from the PWD to the Cabinet reshuffle and allocation of the PWD portfolio presently held by CM Pramodbab. Any questions?

A show of respect: Digambar, Vijai adhere to protocol at prog

It was a week when friends turned political foes – Congress-turned-BJP Margao MLA Digambarbab Kamat and Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai adhered to protocol while addressing each other. Invited as guests at the golden jubilee celebrations of the Goa unit of Alcohol Anonymous on their home turf, Ravindra Bhavan, Diggu addressed the Goa Forward chief as Fatorda MLA and former Deputy Chief Minister. In return, Vijaibab reciprocated by addressing Diggu as Goa’s former Chief Minister. Sticking to the protocol might have helped the duo to refresh public memory that they had once held top positions in the echelons of power. Any questions?

Reginaldo denies role in slope construction, blames ‘God Man’

What exactly did Independent MLA Reginaldbab Lourenco convey to his Fatorda counterpart Vijaibab Sardesai when the duo had descended at the Margao Housing Board for Shiv Jayanti celebrations earlier this week? While returning home after the celebrations, Vijaibab happened to have a look at a multi-storeyed building on a sloppy land in the locality. When he casually asked Reginaldbab over the building, the Independent MLA said he has no role in the building. Instead, the Curtorim MLA sought to point accusing fingers at a “God man” behind the building. Any questions?

Mission recce or surgical strike? Viriato’s Benaulim visit questioned

As South Goa MP Captain Viriato Fernandes descended on Benaulim’s fertile political field during the weekend, political circles were abuzz with a host of questions. One, whether the ex-Naval Captain was on a “mission recce” in the coastal belt represented by Aam Aadmi Party MLA Captain Venzy Viegas to find out the ground reality for the Congress party, which had last represented Benaulim in the year 1999. Or, whether the Captain’s mission was to launch a surgical strike in Benaulim and reclaim the constituency from the Aam Aadmi Party in the coming polls. Wait and watch.

Delay in appointing Margao Block Cong chief raises questions

Has the Congress leadership appointed the president to head the Margao Block Congress Committee? Well, pose the question to the Congress leaders and apt comes a reply that the block president is yet to the appointed by the leadership. This has only thrown up a question or two over the inordinate delay in appointing the Margao Block Committee chief. Sources say the Congress leadership ought to have been quick in appointing the Margao block committee president after Digambarbab Kamat quit the party to return back to the BJP with lock, stock and barrel. It’s now two years and five months since Diggu had quit the party on September 14, 2022. Interesting, isn’t it when the 2027 Assembly election are exactly two years away from now.
