It was a week when activists and citizens alike were on the job to find out the purpose behind the visit of Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant to the Cuncolim Industrial Estate. For, the Cuncolim IDC had been in the news for all the wrong reasons, with local residents up in arms over pollution. Realisation later dawned that Pramodbab would indeed visit the Cuncolim IDC but for a private function concerning the expansion of an industrial unit. As it turned out, the CM made his visit to the unit, accompanied by Environment Minister Aleixobab Sequeira, Goa Forward Chief Vijaibab Sardesai and others. Any takers?
LoP skips CM's event amid protests over pollution
Leader of Opposition Yuribab Alemao was conspicuous by his absence at the Cuncolim IDC when CM Pramodbab Sawant visited the estate for the inauguration of the expansion of an industrial unit. The Opposition leader, who represents the Cuncolim constituency, sources said, was very much in town and was invited to the function. Sources indicated the Leader of Opposition apparently preferred to skip the function for obvious reasons as Cuncollkars have been waging a sustained battle against pollution at the Cuncolim IDC. Any questions?
Environment Min's 'stupid' ways of operating cause amusement
Will Environment Minister Aleixobab Sequeira elaborate on his “stupid” ways of executing tasks assigned to him? Well, when Aleixobab was at the Cutbona fishing jetty earlier this week, he was candid in admitting in front of Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant that he has some "stupid ways of operating", which he employed to bring about a turnaround at the fishing jetty. For a moment, even the stakeholders wondered what exactly Aleixobab meant by his stupid ways. Was it the carrot and stick policy he effectively used to get the stakeholders on board by threatening to seal the jetty in the peak of the fishing season? Interesting, isn’t it?

Girish camp eyes brownie points with good J'Khand performance
Close aides of ex-GPCC Chief and Congress Working Committee (CWC) member Girishbab Chodankar seemed hoping against hope that the Congress party would do well in the ensuing polls for the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly, but for a different reason. Girishbab was handpicked by the Congress High Command as the Chairman of the Selection Committee to zero in on the party candidates for the Jharkhand polls. Back home, close aides say that an impressive performance by the Congress in Jharkhand will keep Girishbab in good stead in the party scheme of things, and in his home state Goa. Any takers?
