The Congress troika, comprising of Congress president Amitbab Patkar, Opposition leader Yuribab Alemao and MLA Altonbab D’Costa seemed united as never before. Against the backdrop of overt and covert moves in certain quarters to dislodge Amitbab Patkar, the Yuri-Altone duo, sources said, have fully rallied behind the Congress president. The trio seemed to have accepted the gauntlet thrown by opponents, seeking a leadership change. Guess why the troika feels they are not just combating rivals within the party, but also forces outside the party bracing up to gain entry into the Congress. You know the answer.
Unfazed by cabinet axe rumours, Aleixo continues with biz as usual
Speculations were rife for some time that Saxtti lone Minister Aleixobab Sequeira may face the axe from the Pramodbab Sawant Cabinet. The seasoned Minister, however, seemed unfazed by the speculations, going about his work systematically, planning for the New Year as well. That Aleixobab did not give credence to reports of his Cabinet axe became clear when he point blank told a contractor to complete work on the Margao Civil and Criminal Court building by April 6, 2025 for inauguration, coinciding with his birthday. How can Aleixobab inaugurate the Court building if he is no more the Law Minister? Interesting, isn’t it?
Aleixo endorses Sawant’s secular governance in L-Day speech
Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant should be certainly pleased with Saxtti lone Minister Aleixobab Sequeira. In fact, Aleixobab’s address on Goa Liberation Day programme should be music to the Chief Minister’s ears. Reason: When the CM is perceived as communal in certain quarters, Aleixobab took the Liberation Day programme to give a clean chit to government headed by Pramodbab Sawant, terming it as a secular dispensation on the manner in which the government went about organising the Exposition of the relics of St Francis Xavier at Old Goa. Any questions?
Churchill opposes privatisation of Benaulim beach pay parking
After lying low for quite some time, Varca strongman Bab Churchill came out to oppose government’s plan to privatise parking at Benaulim beach. Initiated during his tenure as MLA of Benaulim constituency, Churchill said he had taken up development of the land for vehicular parking for the benefit of the local stakeholders, including fishermen and shack operators. Incidentally, the former MLA was careful in avoiding taking anyone’s name or blaming anyone, but his message seemed loud and clear that he will not remain silent if pay parking is introduced at Benaulim beach. Any questions?
Alliance or not, AAP finally sets its eyes on Curtorim constituency
Alliance or not, the Aam Aadmi Party seemed to have finally set its eyes on Curtorim, the constituency represented by four-time Independent MLA Reginaldbab Lourenco. For, the party seemed involved in a ding dong battle with Reginaldbab, a coalition partner of the BJP-led government headed by CM Pramodbab Sawant. Fully aware that Reginaldbab’s decision to support the saffron brigade has not gone down well with the constituent in the minority-dominated constituency, AAP leaders led by Roquebab Mascarenhas seemed leaving no stone unturned to corner the four-time MLA, by raking up issues plaguing the people. Wait and watch.
