Newly-elected BJP State President Damubab Naik’s recent visit to national capital has become a talking point in political circles, but for a different reason - his meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah. For, it was all along perceived in political circles that Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai share good rapport with the Union Home Minister since the time the Fatorda MLA supported the BJP to form the government in 2017. Now, Damubab seemed to have a direct access to the Union Home Minister in his capacity as the Goa party chief. Interesting, isn’t it that Fatorda has an access to the Union Home Ministry.
K'taka Cong leader's mission
in State raises questions
The Congress camp is abuzz with reports whether the party leadership has sent any emissary to Goa to assess the party’s situation in the state. For, sources say a Congress leader from Karnataka has been spotted in the state in the last couple of days. It could not be ascertained whether the Congress leader is in Goa on a personal visit or on business trip, or on a political mission. It could not be confirmed whether the leader has had any interactions with former Congressmen, now part of other political parties. Any questions?
TMC seems to be gearing up for
2027 Assembly polls in Goa
The Mamata Didi-led Trinamool Congress party is back in the news again after party MP Derek O’Brien raised the issue of Goa’s coastal communities comprising of fishermen and toddy tappers in Parliament. Take note, the TMC MP has taken up cudgels for the fishermen and toddy tappers in Parliament only after an interaction with fishermen at Benaulim and other places along with Goa party functionaries. This has only fuelled speculations in political circles whether the TMC is gearing up for the three elections lining up in Goa culminating in the 2027 Assembly polls. Wait and watch.
Girish's naming as AICC in-charge
of TN deemed as promotion (with picture)
After a stint in the North East, Congress working committee member, ex-Goa Congress Chief, Girishbab Chodankar, is now the AICC in-charge of Tamil Nadu, the state going to the Assembly election in early 2026. Tamil Nadu and Congress leaders from the Southern state are not new for Girishbab. For, leaders such as P Chidambaram, Manikam Tagore and Dr Chella Kumar have all been Congress in-charges of Goa in the recent past. Back home, Girishbab’s close aides interpret his latest appointment as TN in-charge as a promotion for the ex-PCC Chief, from an in-charge of smaller states to a big state. Wait and watch.
Cong workers want party to go
all out on its own in polls
The Congress has finally kicked off its block meetings in South Goa during the weekend, with block meetings in Mormugao taluka. The exercise will continue in the coming week, with a meeting scheduled in Velim, the home constituency of South district Congress Chief Saviobab D’Silva. Guess the response of party rank and file to the block-wise meetings so far, attended by AICC secretary Dr Anjalibai? If a Congress functionary is to be believed, a major takeaway from the meetings is workers want the party to go all out in the coming polls sans alliances. Any questions?
