Debate still rages about who was
responsible for beef scarcity
Who is to be blamed for the beef scarcity on the eve of Christmas festivities? Well, it was a week when Christians had to go without beef for no fault of theirs. In fact, members of the Catholic community found themselves caught in the crossfire between Hindu Gau Rakshaks and Muslim beef traders, leaving them with no choice but to settle for chicken and pork. The debate, however, rages as to who’s responsible for the beef scarcity – the Gau Rakshaks, whose vigilantism triggered violence in the SGPDA market or the beef traders, who went on a flash strike on the eve of Christmas. Any questions.
CM's short speech at western
bypass opening raises queries
When Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant came to inaugurate the Margao western bypass early this week, the PWD had put all arrangements in place, a spacious pandal, good sound system, chairs, refreshments et al. Besides the CM, the inaugural programme was also attended by lone Saxtti Minister Aleixobab Sequeira, Cong-turned-BJP MLA Diggu, besides Goa Forward Chief Vijaibab Sardesai. Scribes covering the inauguration, however, were left to wonder how come only the Chief Minister addressed the gathering before curtains came down on the function within minutes – was it because the CM had to rush back to Panjim or otherwise? Many a question indeed remained unanswered.
AAP appears keen on community
health services across state
After Benaulim, the Aam Aadmi Party appeared keen and anxious to take community health services across the state as well. For, the weekend saw the inauguration of community health centre in Velim on the occasion of AAP MLA Cruzbab Silva’s birthday. Political observers say AAP’s stress on community health on the lines of the Mohalla Clinics ushered in by Arvind Kejrival in Delhi may help the party to showcase before the rest of Goa what the party could achieve if voted to power in the state in 2027. Any questions?
