When election results started trickling in from Delhi on Saturday, with the trend going against Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party, Goa AAP chief Amitbab Palekar made a pointed reference to the way Congress went about attacking AAP in the Delhi election. Amitbab’s statement only threw up a host of questions in political circles – was he trying to blame the Congress for the party’s defeat; whether AAP would forgive and forget the Delhi episode and how would AAP go about the three elections lining up in Goa in the next two years, the 2025 ZP polls, the 2026 Municipal election culminating in the 2027 Assembly election. Wait and watch.
Goa Cong mute on AAP’s fall and BJP’s rise in Delhi
What’s the take of Goa Congress leaders to the Aam Aadmi Party’s fall and BJP’s rise in Delhi? Well, Goa Congress leadership appeared muted over the party’s rout in the Delhi Assembly election. But, more than its debacle in Delhi, political observers appeared more interested in ascertaining the reaction of Congress leaders to AAP’s defeat. For, many say the Delhi election result should ring in good news for the middle and lower-rung Congress leaders, vehemently opposed to any tie-up with AAP in Goa. Wait and watch for political developments unfolding in Goa post-Delhi election results.
Curtorim MLA sees AAP’s defeat as personal win
Curtorim Independent MLA Reginaldbab Lourenco too celebrated AAP’s resounding defeat in Delhi at the hands of alliance partner, BJP. As the results trickled in from Delhi, Reginaldbab is believed to have gone around the town, announcing that his prediction of AAP’s electoral rout has come true. There’s been no love lost between the four-time MLA and AAP. For, the AAP leadership, which has set eyes on Curtorim after Benaulim and Velim, had left no stone unturned to lock horns with the Independent MLA on a host of issues over the last two years. Any questions?
Apart from Friday darbar, Aleixo embarks on ‘Mission Nuvem’
Environment Minister Aleixobab Sequeira seemed to have embarked on “Mission Nuvem”. For, apart from his weekly Friday darbar at the South District Collectorate, the heavyweight minister has extended his public interactive programme in his home constituency Nuvem. So far, Aleixobab has made his presence in at least two villages in the constituency and is believed to have chalked out a detailed programme for the coming months. It’s a sheer coincidence that Aleixobab’s village-wise interactive session in his home constituency has come just weeks after outgoing BJP chief Sadanandbab Tanavade had raised questions over party’s poor membership drive in Nuvem. Any takers?
Ajit Pawar-led NCP eyes political entry into Goa
The Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party seemed making discreet moves to set up party base in Goa. If sources are to be believed, the NCP headed by the Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister, appears keen to have its presence in Goa ahead of the 2027 Assembly election. Party leaders recently had discussions with a couple of young leaders from Goa in an apparent bid to make debut in the State. If sources are to be believed, a delegation of party leaders is expected to descend in Goa in the near future. Wait and watch.
