GUILHERME ALMEIDA | APRIL 07, 2024, 01:06 AM IST

Guess who has finally prevailed upon the Congress leadership to stick to the party’s time-tested norm of fielding a candidate from the majority candidate in North and minority in South Goa. Well, the Congress has maintained the communal balance that had contributed to the party’s electoral success in the recent past. Both GPCC chief Amitbab Patkar and Opposition leader Yuribab Alemao seemed to have been the strong votary of maintaining the time-tested norm. If sources are to be believed, none other than Congress leader Sonia Gandhi was in favour of maintaining the tradition of nominating candidates from the two major communities. Any takers?

Task cut out for South Goa BJP ministers, MLAs in LS elections

The BJP camp in South Goa is witnessing an intense battle of sorts amongst the players – who amongst the Ministers and MLAs will give maximum vote lead for the party candidate Pallavibai Dempo in the May 7 Lok Sabha polls. With half the Pramodbab Sawant Cabinet, beside a host party MLAs hailing from down South, political observers say a race amongst the BJP leaders and others is inevitable to prove a point or two to the party leadership. Those occupying Cabinet berths may have a task cut out to protect their forts least they face a challenge from the MLAs post-election result.

Reginald’s ‘minority fear’ remark with Pallavi raises questions

What’s this minority fear Independent Curtorim MLA Reginaldbab Lourenco highlighted when he extended support to BJP South Goa Lok Sabha candidate Pallavibai Dempo earlier this week? Well, Curtorkars are trying to figure out what exactly did Reginaldbab try to convey to Pallavibai when he underscored the need to take note of the fear amongst the minorities, throwing up a question or two whether the Independent MLA supporting the BJP government has come across any fear concerning the minorities and whether he has tried to allay the fears with the BJP bosses in the last two years. Any question?
