Ahead of the much-talked-about cabinet reshuffle, two ministers in Pramodbab Sawant's dispensation seemed to have come under the scanner. Revenue Minister Babush Monserrate and Fisheries Minister Nilkanthbab Halarnkar have come into sharp focus but for different reasons. If Babush had to grapple with the cash for job allegations, the deaths of migrant fishing crew and the cholera outbreak at the Cutbona fishing jetty have brought Nilkanthbab and his Fisheries department under the close lens of none other than Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant. That Pramodbab personally descended at the Cutbona jetty sans the Fisheries Minister has indeed thrown up speculations in political circles. Wait and watch.
As Vijai returns from break political speculations follow
As curtains come down on the Ganesh Chaturthi festivities, political observers are trying to figure out whether Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai will resume his Sunday Dialogues. For, he had announced at his Sunday Dialogue programme in Curchorem that the exercise would resume post-Chaturthi. After his tour of Europe, where he hopped from Hungary to Austria before heading to Italy with his family and friends, Vijaibab has since returned home to partake in the Ganesh festivities. It’s a sheer coincidence that when Vijaibab returned home, a video went viral highlighting how he had propped up the BJP government in 2017. Any questions?
Cong's defection anniversary plan draws Parrikar parallel
What's lining up at the Lohia Maidan, Margao during the weekend when the Congress leadership will observe the second anniversary of the defections by the eight Congress turncoats? Well, it was on September 14, 2022 when the eight Congress MLAs led by Diggu quit the Congress to embrace the saffron brigade. That the Congress leadership has chosen to observe the second anniversary of defection at the Lohia Maidan has only reminded Madgavkars of a similar protest rally held by former chief minister late Manohar Parrikar every year on February 2 after the fall of his government in 2005. Interesting, isn’t it?
Amonkar braces for 'bad news' amid wait for 'good news'
Whether or not any good news lies in store for Congress turncoat from Mormugao, Sankalpbab Amonkar is a subject of debate in political circles. Pose the question to the first-time MLA representing Mormugao in the Goa Legislative Assembly, and the former GPCC chief was candid in admitting that let alone any good news, he and the other turncoats are bracing up for bad news on Saturday. Further asked to elaborate on the bad news he was talking about, Sankalpbab referred to the protests planned by the Congress on Saturday to coincide with the defections. Wait and watch.
Damu's quiet birthday sparks speculations about future
It was a week when former two-time Fatorda MLA and BJP general secretary Damubab Naik celebrated a quiet birthday at his residence. While the celebration was low-key, Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant, Saxtti's lone minister Aleixobab Sequeira and a host of other leaders made it to Fatorda to extend birthday wishes to Damubab. The two-time former Fatorda MLA has been maintaining a low profile for some time, only throwing up questions over his future political plans. Any takers?
