Oppn bracing up to take on BJP in Monsoon Session

GUILHERME ALMEIDA | JUNE 23, 2024, 12:53 AM IST

Is there anything special lining up from Saxtti as the Opposition is bracing up to take on the saffron brigade in the forthcoming Monsoon Session of the Goa Legislative Assembly? For, post-June 4 Lok Sabha election results, expectations are high that the INDI Alliance will collectively floor the government on the mat in the coming session. Barring RGP MLA Vireshbab Borkar, most of the Opposition MLAs either hail from Saxttidom or have Saxtti connections. Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai has kick-started his interactions with citizens seeking inputs on questions to be raised in the Assembly. And, so has Leader of Opposition Yuribab Alemao. Aam Aadmi Party MLA duo of Venzy-Cruz, currently busy with the Benaulim ZP by-poll, and not to mention Congress MLAs Carlosbab and Altonbab, are all expected to gear up for the Assembly session. Wait and watch.

Mission 2027 Assembly polls? AAP national leader visits Goa

What was Aam Aadmi Party national leader Pankajbai Gupta’s brief in Benaulim during the campaign for the June 23 Benaulim ZP by-poll? Well, Pankajbai was spotted in Benaulim earlier this week, raising questions whether AAP had roped in party national leaders to drum up support for candidate Josephbab Pimenta. AAP leaders have confirmed that Pankajbai was in Goa, but were quick to clarify that he was on a different mission during his stay in the State. Sources said Pankajbai was in Goa to seek feedback from party leaders how to go about in the 2027 Assembly elections with INDI Alliance. Wait and watch.

All eyes on Benaulim ZP by-poll as Met dept predicts heavy rains

With the Metrological Department predicting heavy rains on Sunday, questions are doing the rounds in Benaulim countryside over the voter turnout for the Benaulim by-poll. Aam Aadmi Party, however, seemed a confident lot, asserting its party volunteers and well-wishers will come out in large number to cast their vote on Sunday. It’s not clear whether AAP’s confidence stems from the fact that the party had distributed umbrellas to the volunteers during the poll campaign. And, it’s also unclear whether voters can carry the umbrellas with party symbol to the polling booths on polling day. Wait and watch.

BJP mum over INDI Alliance claims of proxy battle in Benaulim by-poll

The saffron brigade may have stayed away from the hustle and bustle of Benaulim politics days after the party failed to make a dent in the minority stronghold in the Lok Sabha polls. On the coastal plain of Benaulim, however, questions are asked whether the ruling dispensation is fighting a proxy battle to keep the INDI Alliance at bay in the Sunday by-poll. The saffron leadership is mum on claims made by AAP and MP Viriatbab Fernandes that the ruling dispensation is fighting a proxy battle. Many a question still remains unanswered as Benaulikars go to the by-polls on Sunday.

Churchill backs Grrayfans, seeks support via Whatsapp messages

It’s an open secret that Varca strongman Bab Churchill and son Savio have thrown their lot behind Independent candidate Grrayfansbab Fernandes in the Benaulim ZP by-poll.  It could not be confirmed whether Churchillbab had descended on the battle ground to drum up support for the Independent candidate. What’s, however, is clear now is that with just a day to go for the by-poll scheduled on Sunday, Churchillbab is on the job, sending WhatsApp messages to all and sundry with an appeal to support Grrayfans’ candidature. Wait and watch.
