With the BJP finally forming the government in Maharashtra headed by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis after days of political uncertainty, the focus is back again on Goa Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant – whether the much speculated Cabinet rejig will take place before the year end or in the New Year. There’s been strong speculation that the BJP leaders have cleared decks for the induction of former CM Digambarbab Kamat and Speaker Rameshbab Tawadkar in the Cabinet. All eyes are indeed focussed on Chief Pramodbab Sawant again. Wait and watch.
Vijai prompt in taking up former sarpanch’s attack with MLA
It’s a sheer coincidence that when Mandrem ex-Sarpanch Maheshbab Konadkar was attacked earlier this week, Mandrem MLA Jit Arolkar was in Fatorda to lay the foundation stone for the Housing Board project. Moments after the assault, Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai, received a call from party workers in Mandrem on the attack on Maheshbab. Sources said Vijaibab is believed to have taken up the attack incident with Arolkar. Goa Forward leaders too were quick to condemn the incident. Any questions?
AAP MLA’s bold prediction sans alliance raises questions
Aam Aadmi Party MLA Venzybab’s prediction that the Congress will be stranded on single digit seats in the 2027 Assembly election if the Opposition does not stitch an alliance makes reading interesting. Political observers are trying to figure out what exactly was the AAP MLA’s message to the Congress leadership – a threat to either stitch an alliance or face split of votes or simply an assessment of the ground reality? By the way, Venzybab’s message has come days after All India Congress Committee Secretary Dr Anjalibai had descended in Benaulim to strengthen the party and to contest the 2027 election. Any questions?
Congress candidates seek clarity on AAP’s Delhi meet, possible alliance
Congress’ prospective candidates, gearing up for the 2027 Assembly polls, are on the job to find out names of Congress functionaries in Delhi with whom the AAP delegation from Goa had a meeting in the national capital earlier this week. In fact, Congress workers, who have set their eyes on the 2027 polls, have been trying to contact party Goa leaders to find out the truth behind Venzy’s claim over the Delhi meeting. They seemed on the job to find out whether any local leaders also participated in the meeting and whether the local leadership is in favour of a Cong-AAP alliance in 2027. Wait and watch.
Will police find attackers of Girish’s car amid tension over Raja Singh?
Has Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant’s men-in-uniform made any headway into the attack on ex-Congress president Girishbab Chodankar’s car at the Holy Spirit Church square? The attack assumes significance and comes against the backdrop of Girishbab’s demand for a ban on Raja Singh’s visit to Goa during the weekend. Goa Police in the recent past has claimed to have resolved sensational crimes based on technical surveillances via CCTV footage. Indeed a challenge of sorts for the Chief Minister, who presides over the Home portfolio, to nab the miscreants behind the attack.
