For a moment, arch political rivals, Benaulim MLA Venzybab Viegas and challenger Warrenbab Alemao, set aside their differences to take up cudgels for the beleaguered tourist taxi operators from Varca. When the duo led a delegation of Varca tourist taxi operators to SP, Tikam Singh along with Varca Sarpanch Flaviabai Barretto, they were seen in a huddle, smiling at each other and addressing each other by name. Next day, Warren returned back to Varca with JCB machinery to de-silt the water bodies in the village. Any takers?
Kamat treads cautiously on Kashmir terror attack protest
Congress-turned-BJP MLA Diggu wriggled out of a piquant situation after Akhil Bharatiya Vidharthi Parishad members explained how terrorists singled out Hindus in the Kashmir terror attack and that a similar attack can take place anywhere in Goa, including Margao. Joining the protest with a candle in his hand, Diggu listened silently to the speeches. When his turn came to address the protesters, however, the Margao MLA harped on economics, how the attack will cripple Kashmir economically. None other than the Margao MLA knows for sure that communalising the terror attack will not augur well for him in his fiefdom Margao. You know why. Any questions?
Quiet birthday for Sawant, but loud greetings from colleagues
Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant cancelled all birthday celebrations in view of the Pahalgam terror attack in Kashmir. The CM’s ministerial colleagues and others, however, extended their greetings via huge hoardings along major roads and highways. A couple of hoardings were also spotted in Environment Minister Aleixobab Sequeira’s fiefdom Nuvem, with the Minister extending his birthday wishes to the Chief Minister. Any questions?
Sacred and Saffron: BJP’s Goa wing mourns Pope Francis

At the South Goa BJP office, party leaders from South Goa all lit candles for the soul of the departed Pope. Leaders paid rich tributes to Pope Francis, describing him as a beacon of peace. The party did not stop there. The Curtorim BJP Mandal led by President Dr Snehabai Bhagwat and ST leader Anthonybab Barbosa along with party workers organised a condolence cum prayer meeting at Curtorim for the soul of the departed Pope. Rest in Peace.
I-League glory fuels Churchill’s political return in Benaulim
What does the I-league championship mean for the patron of Churchill Brothers Sports Club, Bab Churchill? An entry into the ISL football league for Goa-based family-run club, one many say. On the political front, the victory means a lot for Churchillbab and daughter Valankabai, the club’s CEO. While Churchillbab has announced plans to make a political comeback from home constituency Benaulim, Valankabai is expected to throw her hat in the election ring from Navelim in 2027. Wait and watch.
