When Tourism Minister Rohanbab Khaunte descended at iconic Colva beach to launch Swadesh Dharshan 2.0, he was accompanied by AAP local MLA Venzybab Viegas, besides Congress-turned-BJP Margao MLA Diggu, Cavelosism Sarpanch Dixonbab Vaz amongst others. Saxtti lone Minister, Aleixobab Sequeira, however, was conspicuous by his absence. In the recent past, Aleixobab had taken up cudgels for the tourism stakeholders and fishermen when the Tourism Department had planned to introduce pay-parking at the Colva beach square. Aleixobab was very much in Saxttidom around the time Khauntebab visited Colva. Many a question indeed remains unanswered.
BJP karyakartas’ presence at Colva raises questions on party strategy
The presence of BJP karyakartas at Colva during Tourism Minister Rohanbab Khaunte’s visit to the iconic beach is a talking point along Saxtti coastal belt. That the BJP workers turned up at Colva became evident when the Tourism Minister made a mention of the karyakartas around him. The Tourism Minister even mentioned that party workers will be taken in the loop while re-developing the tourism infrastructure, throwing up a question or two whether the presence of party workers is as per BJP’s style of functioning or whether the karyakartas were mobilised to ensure the credit for the works does not go to any lone person or politician. Kamat’s ‘Model Margao’ forum success baffles BJP workers
Congress-turned-BJP Margao MLA Diggu’s “Model Margao” forum seemed to have left hard core BJP workers baffled and in an introspection mode. The reason is not far to seek. For, the Margao MLA had floated Model Margao to fight the Margao civic polls during his stint in the Congress, an experiment that had successfully checkmated the saffron brigade in successive Margao civic polls. Post-Diggu’s ghar vapasi, Model Margao has not only maintained its identity, but is going from strength to strength as evident by the massive cleanliness drive undertaken by the Forum pre and post-Ganesh Chaturthi festivities. Minister all smiles as Cutbona jetty sees major improvements
It was a week when Saxtti lone Minister Aleixobab Sequeira was all smiles when scribes questioned him on the situation at the Cutbona fishing jetty. Body language of the political heavyweight showed that he has delivered what Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant had promised, to bring about a turnaround at the cholera-hit jetty. With the health services confirming that Cutbona is now free from Cholera, Aleixobab was quick to point out that the mess at the jetty too has disappeared post-CM’s visit. Will CM Pramodbab return back to Saxttidom to inaugurate the refurbished jetty? Wait and watch.
IAS officer under lens of Saxttikars waging battle against projects
Saxtti Block Development Officer, Pallavibai Mishra seemed to have come under the lens of Saxttikars waging a sustained battle against mega housing projects. Her presence at the Betalbatim extra-ordinary gram sabha meeting on housing projects has brought the IAS officer in focus. Former Minister Mickkybab Pacheco was quick to question the BDO’s role at the Betalbatim gram sabha. Social activist Judithbai Almeida is amongst many others who took to the social media to question the BDO when Pallavibai fielded questions from gram sabha members, besides her stand that only an amendment to the Goa Panchayat Raj Act by the Legislators can empower panchayats to stop housing projects. Wait and watch whether the IAS officer will attend gram sabha meetings of the remaining panchayats across Saxttidom.
