When CM’s criticism of Cong left turncoats embarrassed

GUILHERME ALMEIDA | AUGUST 31, 2024, 12:28 AM IST

Congress turncoats may hope that Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant is circumspect while making statements directed at the previous Congress governments. For, the CM’s statements targeting the Congress seemed to have only given ammunition for opponents to fire guns at the turncoats in their fiefdoms. Couple of months ago, Pramodbab Sawant’s statement holding Congress responsible for the death of the two tribal youth in the UTAA agitation had left the turncoats embarrassed. Reason: The deaths of the tribal youth had taken place during the Congress government headed by then CM Diggu. Any questions?

Events in Kamat’s fiefdom Aquem for past one week raise eyebrows

What’s cooking at Aquem is a question political observers have been trying to find out since the last one week. Consider this. On former PM Rajiv Gandhi’s birth anniversary, Prabhav Naik released a photo of his grandfather late Babu Naik addressing a Congress meeting at Lohia Maidan with posters of Rajiv Gandhi on stage. On Krishna Janmasthami day, Prabhav uploaded a photo celebrating Lord Krishna’s birthday with family friends, including ex-Minister Babu Ajgaonkar and GPCC chief Amitbab Patkar. Again, Prabhav wished Congress leader and former Union Minister Eduardbab Faleiro on his 85th birthday. Any questions?

Queries remained unanswered over Cong ticket denial to Monte Cruz

As hundreds and thousands of Niz Goemkars bid adieu to former Sports Minister Montebab Cruz earlier this week, the Congress may have to answer a simple question – why did the Congress deny the ticket to the former two-time Benaulim MLA despite achieving an unprecedented feat of building the Nehru stadium in six months. In fact, this question had come to haunt the Congress leadership over the years and still remains unanswered. Political observers wonder why the Congress leadership had denied the ticket to Montebab when he had put in place the iconic Nehru stadium. Many a question still remains unanswered till date.

GPCC chief hints at new party office ahead of BJP’s office

What exactly did GPCC chief Amitbab Patkar mean when he tweeted that the Congress will have its new office before the completion of the BJP’s office. Well, the Congress has been functioning from the Congress House for a long time now and Amitbab’s announcement may come as welcome news for Congressmen. The last time the Congress could get the district office in South Goa was around 12 years ago when then party heavyweight Aleixobab Sequeira was the Power Minister. Even a plaque was put up in the South district office to tell all and sundry that the office was arranged by Aleixobab. It’s another matter the plaque has disappeared from the office after Aleixobab embraced the saffron brigade. Any questions?
