When Vijai secured ‘unexpected’ funds for Fatorda PS from CM

GUILHERME ALMEIDA | AUGUST 18, 2024, 12:46 AM IST

It was a week when political observers tried to figure out how did Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai managed get Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant to sanction Rs 22 crore to build a new Fatorda police station building just days after the duo had crossed swords in the Legislative Assembly on several issues? For, relations between Vijaibab and the CM had hit rock bottom after Pramodbab dropped the Fatorda MLA from his cabinet in 2019. Since then, there’s been no love lost between the duo over a host of issues plaguing the State. The police station building and CM’s promise to complete the multipurpose school complex building in Vijaibab’s constituency was indeed a talking point in political circles.

Who will claim credit for new Fatorda Police Stn: BJP or GFP?

The new Fatorda police station building is expected to be ready by December 2026, if one goes by CM Pramodbab Sawant’s deadline. Given that Assembly elections are scheduled in early 2027, the moot question remains unanswered – will the BJP take credit for building the new police station building or will the credit go to Vijaibab Sardesai? Well, CM Pramodbab was candid in admitting that Vijaibab’s follow up has helped to expedite the project. However, both Vijaibab and the BJP may be bracing up for yet another battle for Fatorda. Wait and watch as to who will claim the credit for the new Fatorda police station building.

Eyebrows raised in Cong camp over Nat leader’s support to Vijai’s darbar

It was a week when several local Congress leaders and workers tried to find out the background of Congress leader, Anshuman Sail Nehru after war broke out between Congress leaders and Goa Forward over Vijaibab Sardesai’s Sunday Dialogue in Curchorem last Sunday. For, in his tweet, Anshuman gave Vijaibab a pat on his back for the “great initiative by the INDIA bloc leader by holding Sunday Dialogues in different constituencies of Goa,” further saying “Together, INDIA bloc will work towards raising voice for the common people of Goa and form government in 2027? Goa Congress leaders, however, appear sore that Vijaibab did not keep party Chief Amitbab Patkar in the loop before going into his home constituency. Any takers?

Cong leaders probe how Anshuman learned about Sunday Dialogues

No sooner Congress national leader Anshuman Sail Nehru had tweeted, praising Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai over his Sunday Dialogues initiative, a senior Goa Congress leader is believed to have tried to contact the national Congress leader, by sending a message to Anshuman overt his tweet. More than the tweet, however, local Congress leaders are trying to find out how did Anshuman come to know of the Curchorem Sunday Dialogue episode, whether he had received inputs from Congress sources or from the Goa Forward party. Any questions?

After GF’s Sunday Dialogues, AAP plans ‘women safety dialogue’

After Goa Forward’s Sunday Dialogues were launched last Sunday, the Aam Aadmi Party has unveiled plans to hold Women Safety Dialogue across the State. Well, AAP leader Amitbab Palekar announced in Benaulim that the party would hold women dialogues in all the 40 Assembly constituencies in the wake of the rape and murder of the Kolkata doctor. Unlike Vijaibab Sardesai’s Sunday Dialogues planned in all the constituencies, AAP leaders, however, were quick to clarify that the women safety dialogue will take place by taking all the opposition MLAs into confidence. Interesting isn’t it, after Vijaibab’s Sunday Dialogues had kicked up a row of sorts involving Congress leaders.
