When Opposition MLAs went into a sudden huddle earlier this week, many an eyebrow was raised in political circles, but for a different reason. The decision to call for a meeting of the seven Opposition MLAs at short notice at Congress MLA Altonbab’s hotel was with an agenda to write to PM Narendrabai Modi on the jobs-for-cash scam. Questions, however, were raised whether the meeting had anything to do with Maharashtra, which was going to the polls the next day? If yes, why did the Opposition wait for the last moment to highlight the jobs-for-cash scam if the objective was to expose the ruling party? Many a question indeed remains unanswered.
With Maha polls over turncoats eye cabinet berth promise
Congress turncoats must have certainly been waiting anxiously for the curtains to come down on the Maharashtra Assembly polls. Reason: A couple of turncoats have been hoping against hope for their promised Cabinet berth reward since they had defected from the Congress in September, 2022 to embrace the saffron brigade. Of the eight turncoats, only Aleixobab Sequeira has been inducted in the Cabinet till date. With Maharashtra polls over and counting during the weekend, the turncoats may now hope that the BJP high command will honour the promise. Wait and watch.
Minister of action: Aleixo again delivers on CM’s commitments
Saxtti lone Minister Aleixobab Sequeira’s body language spoke louder than words, as he delivered whatever was committed by CM Pramodbab Sawant at Old Goa ahead of the Exposition of the Relics of St Francis Xavier. The CM had handpicked Aleixobab to monitor and supervise the works. Closely monitoring the works during CM’s absence, the Saxtti Minister seemed to have not let down his political boss. This was the second time the CM had drafted Aleixobab for a special mission, first to put things in order at the cholera-hit Cutbona jetty and now at Old Goa. Any questions?
Credibility at stake: Reginaldo faces heat over IRB project
Curtorkars have begun to question why Curtorim MLA Reginaldbab Lourenco has failed to persuade Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant to scrap government’s plans to set up Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) camp and housing quarters on the Leprosy hospital land in Curtorim. For, it’s now little over two years since Reginaldbab had extended his support to the ruling BJP dispensation in lieu of development in Curtorim. A modern police station is being proposed at Raia-Sonsodo, but the IRB project isn’t shelved till date. Any questions?
Vijai’s leadership skills for bigger role in spotlight
This may sound interesting. At the inauguration of Shree Dambab circle earlier this week, a prominent speaker urged supporters to rally behind Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai and support Goa’s development. For a moment, the audience began to wonder whether the speaker was referring to Goa’s development or that of Fatorda before realisation dawned that the same speaker had made a mention earlier in his speech that Fatorda has surpassed Panaji on the development front, driving home the point that the time has come for Vijaibab to play a bigger political role in Goa’s politics. Any takers?
