Will Saxtti lone MLA Aleixobab Sequeira intervene to provide relief to Saxttikars by getting the double engine government to throw open the western bypass for vehicular traffic to ease acute traffic congestion ahead of Christmas and New Year festivities? For, though the bypass is ready in all respects, it has not been thrown open for traffic for want of official inauguration. It’s not known whether the government is waiting for Union Minister Nitin Gadkari to inaugurate the bypass. Indeed, Saxttikars wonder whether Aleixobab can prevail on Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant, who also holds the PWD portfolio, to open the western bypass for traffic, sans official inauguration? Venzy slams Aleixo over GSPCB’s delay in inspecting Colva creek
It was a week when the contamination of the Colva creek gave an armament for AAP Benaulim MLA Venzybab Viegas to fire shots at Environment Minister Aleixobab Sequeira. Venzybab took strong exception to the delay by the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) to send its team to Colva to collect samples of the creek waters. The Benaulim MLA seemed to have not forgotten how the GSPCB, coming under Aleixobab’s Environment Ministry, had moved with alacrity when a team was deputed to Benaulim to inspect a scrapyard on the banks of River Sal before issuing an order for closure within 24 hours. How would Independent MLA Reginaldbab Lourenco keep his political opponents at bay in his fiefdom Curtorim, from where he has been elected four times in a row since 2007? Well, none other than Reginaldbab knows for sure that opponents are leaving no stone unturned to checkmate him politically, since the time he extended his support to the saffron brigade after the 2022 Assembly polls. As the Congress leadership is embarking on the process to reconstitute the blocks in the New Year, hopes are being raised that Margao constituency, the fiefdom of Congress-turned-BJP MLA Diggu, will finally have a block committee headed by a President. For, the Margao block committee had been lying defunct for over two years now, since the time Diggu and the then Margao block president Gopalbab Naik had quit the Congress lock, stock and barrel. Though the Congress camp led by Saviobab Coutinho had been holding the fort for the Congress in recent months, the block hasn’t yet been constituted till date for reasons best known to the party leadership. Photojournalist assault: Failure to identify rogue cop raises eyebrows
After the IRB personnel left the Goa police red-faced for facilitating the great escape of the land grab accused, questions are raised in journalist’s circles whether the men-in-uniform has succeeded in identifying the IRB personnel accused of assaulting photojournalist during the Margao lathi charge. Police higher-ups, sources say, are still groping in the dark to identify the IRB constable for assaulting the photojournalist. In fact, Goa Police will have to answer a simple question – if the men-in-uniform cannot identify the rouge policemen from a group of 20 personnel, how will they zero in on criminals in a mob running into thousands. Indeed time for introspection.
