Sawant’s intervention brings investment fraud into limelight

GUILHERME ALMEIDA | DECEMBER 07, 2024, 01:22 AM IST

Ever since Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant vowed to investigate into the “Fatorda-London Rs 130 crore investment scam”, the case seemed hogging the limelight almost every week. First, the CM’s announcement saw the Economic Offences Cell registering a FIR against directors of a company, some of whom are known associates of Goa Forward chief. This was followed by a Look out Notice, to prevent these persons from leaving the country. Now, the government has handed over the probe to the Crime Branch. Goemkars may be anxious to know the status of the ongoing investigations. Any questions?

Vijai treading cautiously on exposing jobs-for-cash scam

What’s Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai’s take on government’s move to hand over the investment scam to the Crime Branch and his plan to expose the jobs-for-cash scam? Well, the Goa Forward chief says the government is only making announcements for public consumption. He, however, seemed treading cautiously, apparently taking his own time to expose the jobs-for-cash scam. Vijaibab had promised over a week ago that he would lay bare the jobs-for-cash scam in public domain. Wait and watch.

All eyes on Venzy’s stance on Benaulim pay parking plans

What Benaulim MLA Venzybab’s take on the opposition brewing in Benaulim over the government’s move to hand over parking lot to private players to introduce pay parking at the Benaulim beach. Benaulikars smell a rat over the move to hand over the acquired properties to private players for development. Local stakeholders, including fishermen, tourist taxi operators, besides beach shack operators have red flagged the proposal to hand over the parking lot to a private party. Locals must be anxiously waiting for Venzybab to inquire with Tourism Minister Rohanbab Khaunte, with whom he seemed sharing close rapport. Wait and watch.

Will Aleixo intervene in Benaulim parking row?

Has Saxtti lone Minister Aleixobab Sequeira any plan to calm down the storm brewing along Benaulim countryside over the proposed plan to privatise car parking lot in the tourist village? Well, this question is doing the rounds in political circles for the simple reason that Aleixobab had taken up cudgels for the fishermen as well as villagers of Colva when the Tourism Department had planned pay parking at the world famous Colva beach. After Aleixobab’s intervention, nothing has been heard about the Colva pay parking proposal since then. Interesting, isn’t it?

Cops guarding Margao police dist HQs’ entrance raises eyebrows

The entrance gate to the Margao police headquarters now manned by police personnel.

Guess the reason behind the decision by the men-in-uniform to man the entrance gate to the Margao police district headquarters? Well, no specific reason is cited by the police higher-ups behind the decision, leaving the men-in-khaki and citizens alike to wonder whether it is an attempt to keep groups of people from entering the building at bay. Or, is it simply an attempt to keep a track on visitors, with reports doing the rounds that persons wielding political influence and others, have been regular visitors to the building. Any takers?
