The resignation drama comes days after the Prakashbab Velip-headed tribal body UTAA held an impressive melava at Ponda. It’s an open secret there’s no love lost between the ST camp headed by Rameshbab Tawadkar and the rival camp headed by the ST duo of Minister Govindbab Gaude-Prakashbab. Political observers, however, are trying to figure out what’s Rameshbab’s exact message to the BJP leadership comprising of Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant and party chief Sadanandbab Tanavade. Is outgoing South Goa MP Francisbab Sardinha back in the Congress scheme of things? Reason: Charged by a section of the Congress for anti-party activities in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls after being denied the ticket, Sardinhbab had maintained low profile post-election, even announcing plans to call it a day in politics. His presence at a Congress media briefing by party leadership earlier this week has indeed raised many an eyebrow both within the party and outside. When Velim MLA Cruzbab Silva and ex-MP Francisbab Sardinha trained guns at each other at the inauguration of MPLAD project at Ambelim earlier this week over “one inauguration, two plaques” row, ex-Navy Captain Viriatbab Fernandes was left to wonder what’s happening between the MLA and ex-MP. For, the duo was engaged in a public spat over the two plaques, with the Velim MLA virtually holding the ex-MP responsible for the situation. In a lighter vein, Viriatbab confessed to the audience that he was left to wonder for a moment whether the spat would lead to an all-out Hezbolla-Israel war between the MLA and ex-MP before better sense prevailed. When Benaulim AAP MLA Venzybab Viegas inspected the Seraulim underpass earlier this week, he was repeatedly heard saying he has inherited a failed project in the constituency. PWD officials and others were trying to figure what exactly was Venzybab trying to point out, before realisation dawned that the Seraulim underpass was not proposed and executed during the two years and half long tenure of the Benaulim MLA.
