Vijai dares CM to unearth Curtorim and Assagao link

GUILHERME ALMEIDA | JUNE 29, 2024, 01:09 AM IST

Will Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant accept the gauntlet thrown by Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai to unearth the link, if any, between the Sharma who had purchased a property at Curtorim, to the Assagao demolition episode? Well, the social media was abuzz with reports that the withdrawal of the complaint in the Assagao case came a after the family called on Vijaibab. The social media was also abuzz with reports linking the land purchase at Curtorim by a Sharma and the Sardesai. Vijaibab’s challenge to the CM to unearth the Curtorim and Assagao link, if any, has given an added twist to the ongoing controversy. Wait and watch whether the CM’s investigation will unravel the Sharmas as well.

Yuri, Venzy are men behind Alliance victory in Zilla Panchayat by-poll

If the INDI Alliance had a smooth takeoff and landing on coastal Benaulim in the just concluded ZP by-poll, the credit should go to the Pilot Yuribab Alemao and Captain Venzybab Viegas. For, it was the opposition Leader Yuribab, who was the force behind the decision to leave the Benaulim ZP seat to his close friend Venzybab. Yuribab was not spotted in Benaulim during the campaign, but he played a major role in ensuring that the Congress Hand symbol goes missing on the ballot paper. That was enough for friend Venzybab to take the AAP battle forward. And, the rest was history after Venzybab successfully stopped the father-son duo Churchill-Savio Alemao and Warren Alemao at bay. Any questions?

AAP-turned-Congress workers left high and dry in Benaulim

It’s a sheer coincidence while the Congress and Aam Aadmi Party tie-up for the Benaulim ZP by-poll under INDI Alliance paid off successfully, AAP-turned-Congress workers and leaders seemed to have been left high and dry in Benaulim. Congress-turned-Independent candidate Roylabai Fernandes was a former AAP leader, having taken on the might of Varca strongman Bab Churchill before going down fighting in the 2017 Assembly election. Similarly, a number of Benaulim AAP workers and leaders had embraced the Congress after quitting AAP after former AAP State unit chief Elvisbab Gomes joined the Congress. Interesting, isn’t it?

2027 polls: Cong hopefuls on edge post-INDI Alliance win in Benaulim

“Will it be me tomorrow”, is a question that seemed to have taken centre stage in the Congress party with the INDI Alliance registering its first win in the Benaulim ZP by-poll post-Lok Sabha results. This question seemed uppermost in the minds of Congress ticket aspirants who had set their eyes on the 2027 Assembly election. The reason is not far to seek. While AAP is expected to field candidates in Benaulim and Velim on the INDI Alliance, where the party has sitting MLAs, what has fuelled fears amongst Congress ticket aspirant whether they will be told to sacrifice for the Alliance in other constituencies for the sake of the Alliance. Has Congress South Goa district Congress chief Savio D’Silva who had lost the Velim seat to AAP MLA Cruz Silva by a whisker, any answer to the emerging developments. Wait and watch.

Post-ZP by-poll, Churchill seems down, but not out

Varca strongman Bab Churchill may be down, but not out. At least, this was the message the former Chief Minister dished out after the Zilla Panchayat candidate Grrayfans Fernandes whom he and son Savio had backed bite the dust in the by-poll. Churchillbab seemed unfazed when AAP Goa chief Amitbab Palekar thundered that the INDI Alliance’s victory in Benaulim is an ouster of Churchill ka Parivar. In fact, Churchillbab said Benaulim by-poll result is certainly not an end for his political journey. Any questions?
