Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant appeared in a great hurry when he descended at the Ravindra Bhavan, Fatorda on last Sunday. Unlike the past, however, the CM appeared inclined to give a byte or two to the media before returning home. In fact, when his personal security tried to keep scribes swarming around him at bay, the CM instructed the bodyguards to let media persons come close to him. Reason: He was more than willing to speak on the Rs 100 crore investment scam. You know why?
Fatorda-London investment scam: CM’s probe promise sparks curiosity
What exactly did CM Pramodbab Sawant meant to say when he said the government would probe the Rs 100 crore, sorry Rs 130 crore, Fatorda-Goa-London investment scam? Well, the CM was on Fatorda grounds on Sunday evening and he apparently was keen in taking forward what his men-in-uniform had stated on the scam in the State capital earlier in the day. The CM evaded a query on Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai’s connection to the scam, but that he kept harping on the scam, from Fatorda to London, sent a message loud and clear. Any takers?
Yuri, Altone’s absence at Oppn media briefing raises eyebrows
Absence of Leader of Opposition Yuribab Alemao and Congress MLA Altonbab D’Costa at the joint media briefings by the Opposition has only raised eyebrows in political circles. No doubt, the Yuri-Altone duo was present at the first briefing held at Altonbab’s La Grace hotel, but they were conspicuous by their absence at the last two briefings, including the briefing held at Goa Forward’s Goemkar Ghor. This has only left tongues wagging whether the duo was out of station, or skipped the briefings. Any questions?
Unfazed by rumours of Cabinet axe, Aleixo holds Friday darbar
Saxtti’s lone Minister Aleixobab Sequeira appeared calm and composed after reports did the rounds in political circles whether he would face an axe from the Pramodbab Sawant’s Cabinet. In fact, he went about his weekly Friday darbar as usual, attending to the grievances of Saxttikars at the Matanhy Saldanha Administrative complex. Close aides of the Minister appeared anxious to find out the truth in the reports, more so when Aleixobab had executed the job entrusted to him with perfection, be it the Old Goa Exposition and to bring about a turnaround at Cutbona jetty.
Kamat’s induction into Cabinet sparks leadership speculations
Induction of Congress-turned-BJP Margao MLA Diggu into the Pramod Sawant dispensation has been doing the rounds in political circles for a long time now. It was no different this week, but for a different reason. Diggu’s name did the rounds not just for a ministerial berth, but political circles were abuzz with report that he may play a much bigger political role in the State. In fact, political observers do not rule out the possibility of Diggu emerging as a wild card entry in the leadership race. Wait and watch.
