Will Ponda enjoy full representation as Cabinet rejig buzz grows louder

GUILHERME ALMEIDA | AUGUST 25, 2024, 12:45 AM IST

As the Cabinet rejig buzz is only growing louder by the day, questions are asked in political circles over the Minister or Ministers likely to get an axe from Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant-led government. An interesting question seemed to have come to the fore during the weekend and is doing the rounds in BJP circles and outside – will Ponda taluka continue to enjoy the status of cent per cent representation in the Pramodbab Sawant government? For, of the seven Ministers hailing from South Goa, all the four MLAs from Ponda, Ravibab Naik, Sudinbab Dhavalikar, Subhashbab Shirodkar and Govindbab Gaude, enjoy a Cabinet berth. Any questions?

Aleixo remains unfazed amid Cabinet reshuffle speculations

Saxtti lone Minister and veteran political heavyweight Aleixobab Sequeira seemed going about his job unmindful of the speculations of Cabinet rejig post-Ganesh Chaturthi. With names of host of Ministers likely to get an axe doing the rounds in political circles, the body language of the Environment Minister, however, does not in any way suggest that he is under the party leadership’s scanner. It’s not even a year since he was inducted into the Cabinet to fulfil the party promise made to the heavyweight. What lies in store for the Minister is anybody’s guess. Wait and watch.

After success in Benaulim, AAP plans Women’s Dialogues across State

It was a week when Aam Aadmi Party Benaulim MLA Venzybab Viegas kicked off Women’s Dialogues in the wake of the Kolkata rape horror and rapes elsewhere in the country. So impressed was Venzybab over the response for the programme in his home constituency, that he announced that women’s dialogue will be held across the State. The Benaulim MLA has sought to reassure INDI Alliance partners that AAP would take them in the loop while holding the programme in their constituencies. But, none other than AAP leaders know for sure how the programme will help them to reach out to womenfolk across Goa. Have Congress leaders anything to say?

Will Vijai resume Sunday Dialogues after Chaturthi?

Even as AAP has launched its Women’s Dialogue from Benaulim, political observers seemed keen to figure out whether Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai would resume his Sunday Dialogues across Goa post-Ganesh Chaturthi. Vijaibab is presently in Vienna on a tour to Europe with family and close aides. After his Sunday Dialogue in Curchorem came under the Congress scanner for not taking the Opposition party in the loop, political observers wonder how Vijaibab would go ahead with his dialogues across Goa post-Ganesh Chaturthi without antagonising the alliance partners. Wait and watch.

Cong leaders caution youth not to be overconfident in Kamat’s fiefdom

Senior Congress leaders seemed to have cautioned the younger lot in the party not to be over confident over the Lok Sabha election result in Diggu’s fiefdom Margao. In fact, party leaders in private have tend to remind that a Lok Sabha election is a different ball game, cautioning not to underestimate a seasoned political leader such as Diggu. For, the 2024 LS election was Narendra Modi’s election and not Diggu’s election. Even Diggu knows for sure why his ardent supporters amongst the minorities have voted for the Congress. Any questions?
