The Goa State Sailing Championship concluded on Sunday at Hawaii beach, Dona Paula.
Windsurfers competed in the raceboard category while other sailors participated in the optimist category. The championship was conducted by Ram Lal, National Race officer, assisted by Arjun Singh. Strong windy conditions and massive swells on the first two days of the championship tested the sailors to their limits.
In the windsurfing senior men's category, Adarsh Chunekar won the gold while Anil D’souza won the silver medal. In the windsurfing youth open category, Maithili Asgekar won the gold, Samik Satardekar the silver and Nathanael Menezes won the bronze medal.
In the optimist junior category, Tanmay Chunekar took gold ahead of Aaron D’Silva who won silver. In the optimist sub-junior category, the Patrao Twins won two medals with Azurro Patrao winning the gold and Zephyr Patrao the bronze, while Neel Karmarkar won the silver medal.
The championship was organised by the Goa Yachting Association under the aegis of the Sports Authority of Goa. Malcolm Coelho of Dolphin Adventure Sports was the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony and Matheu Gomes, windsurfing national champion of yesteryears was the guest of honour.
