MARGAO: A thrilling cricket tournament, organised by Sportsweek CC, Margao, in collaboration with Margao Cricket Academy, is set to conclude today with the much-anticipated final at MCC ground. The prestigious competition, which saw participation from 20 registered GCA clubs, has delivered a mix of one-sided encounters, nail-biting finishes, and fierce contests.
Defending champions MCC, who were seeded directly into the quarterfinals due to their strong position, had a relatively smooth journey to the final. They secured victories over Sports and Welfare Club of Zaino, Velim in the quarterfinals and then defeated CC Altinho, Mapusa in the semifinals.
On the other hand, Dempo had a tougher route, starting from the first round. They began their campaign by beating Curchorem CC at Malkarne ground, followed by victories over MRF and last year’s runners-up, Chowgule, in the quarterfinals. Dempo then edged past Stamina CC in a hard-fought semifinal to earn their spot in the final against MCC.
