Goa state U-14 boys’ and girls’ judo team leave for Gujarat

The Goa State U14 boys and girls Judo teams left for Gujarat yesterday morning to take part in the Schools Games Federation of India (SGFI) organized championship.

Jaya Patil and Aditya Kankonkar are accompanying the teams as coaches while Shaman Prabhu and Pradosh Parmekar are Managers of the teams.

The groundwork to send the teams is prepared by officials of Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs (DSYA) who then get government approval to send the teams to take part in the championship as it is requires administrative and financial approval of the government.

DYSA sends teams in three categories U14, U17 and U19 championships every year in different disciplines. The team members get a full kit and the travel arrangements are made by DYSA.

Last year a few teams from Goa were sent to the SGFI in different disciplines like Taekwondo, Gymnastics, Table Tennis and Swimming in each of the categories.

U14 boys’ team consists of Samarth Naik -25 kg -Sacred Heart HS Parra, Narayan Khandappanavar - 30 kg- Sacred Heart HS Parra, Vivek Paswan - 35 kg- RPRS HS Bandora, Abhishek Gautam -40kg- Janata HS Mapusa, Krishna Manurkar -45 kg- Saraswat Vidhyalaya Mapusa, Aayan Ahmed -50kg Anjuman Nurul HS Cujira and Arnav Naik +50kg Shri Ganesh Vidhya mandir Mapusa

U14 girls team members are Ayushi Gaonkar -23 kg- Govt. HS Mulgao, Swasthi Yadav - 27kg- Sacred Heart HS Parra, Jemima D'costa- 32 kg- Vidhya Vikas HS Margao, Samiksha Nandihalli -36 kg- Sacred Heart HS Parra, Kavita Sahani -40kg - St. Anthony's HS Monte de guirim, Sneha Madar - 44kg St Mary's HS Mapusa, Snaya Topno +44 kg
