Goa's Karishma Sirvoikar expressed her delight at being selected for the upcoming international friendlies. Karishma is the lone Goan in the 23-member squad of the India Senior Women's team for the two international friendly matches against Uzbekistan was announced on Monday

The Blue Tigresses are currently camping in Hyderabad, where they are preparing for the two upcoming games in Tashkent, which will be played on May 31 and June 4.

Starting off with a list of 30 probables, the Blue Tigresses trained at Sreenidi Deccan FC’s home ground, Deccan Arena for two weeks, before head coach Langam Chaoba Devi narrowed down to the eventual squad of 23, who will travel to the Uzbek capital on Wednesday.

Sirvoikar, who previously played for Gokulam Kerala FC and Kickstart FC in the Indian Women's League (IWL), spoke to the Goan Everyday about her selection. "I'm thrilled to be back with the national team. My focus is on representing India to the best of my ability in these two matches," she stated.

The call-up serves as a motivator for Sirvoikar, who has previously represented the national team in friendly matches. "It has really motivated me to train harder and work even more," she shared.

Sirvoikar's football journey began at a young age, playing on the beaches of Goa alongside boys. Her talent and dedication have propelled her to the national stage.

Now playing for her state team in the IWL, Sirvoikar is eager to implement the lessons learned at the national camp. "The practice and endurance sessions were incredibly helpful," she said. "All the training has significantly contributed to my growth as a player."

Sirvoikar emphasizes the value of experience gained with the national team since 2019. "We can continue with that same competitive spirit," she stated.

She acknowledges the importance of teamwork and facing strong competition. "It's a new team, and everyone's excited to play well together," Sirvoikar said. "Playing competitive teams will help us acclimatise and gain a deeper understanding of international football."

Sirvoikar draws inspiration from footballing legend Cristiano Ronaldo. "He's my inspiration," she revealed. "I've grown up watching him play and aspire to be the kind of footballer he is."

Despite her achievements, Sirvoikar remains grounded. "There's always room to improve," she declared. "We never stop learning, and I'm constantly working to be a better player and person," she concluded.
