Parish Youth Nuvem emerged victorious in the Fr. Gervasio Pinto Memorial Inter-Village Football Tournament, defeating Canacona SCC 5-4 in a dramatic penalty shootout. The final, held at the Figueiredo Ground, Pontemol Curchorem, on Sunday, saw both teams locked at 1-1 after regulation time. Godfrey Mascarenhas scored for Parish Youth Nuvem, while Breman Rodrigues found the net for Canacona SCC.
The match proceeded to a penalty shootout, where Parish Youth Nuvem held their nerve. Niclou Colaco, Godfrey Mascarenhas, Darwin Colaco, and Frazer Miranda converted their spot kicks, securing the win. For Canacona SCC, Shane Afonso, Mehboob Hublikar, and Ralloy Travasso scored, but it wasn't enough to clinch the title.
In individual awards, Godfrey Mascarenhas of Parish Youth Nuvem was named Man of the Match, while Mecklin Coutinho, also of Parish Youth Nuvem, was awarded Best Goalkeeper. Niclou Colaco received two honors, earning both the Best Defender and Player of the Tournament accolades.
The prizes were presented by Mr. Nilesh Cabral, MLA of Curchorem, who graced the event as the chief guest. Also present were Anthony Pango (Sr. Vice President of Goa GFA), GFA Executive Members Ravindra Cabral and Custodio Fernandes, as well as local clergy, including Fr. José Caitan D'Costa (Parish Priest, Guardian Angel Church), Fr. Thomas Gonsalves (Guardian Angel School Complex), Fr. Jerry Vaz, and Fr. Ashliff Correia.
The event was organized by the Guardian Angel Sports Club of Curchorem, with key support from committee members Youlanda Pereira and Ruchika Vasta.
