PANAJI: Evan Antonio Telles and Vivaan Kadam lead the Open Category with 4 points each, while Aaradhya Dessai and Brahami Ramesh Mangasuli share the top spot in the Girls Category with 3 points apiece on the first day of the Goa State U-7 Chess Championship 2025.
In the Open Category, Evan Antonio Telles continued his winning form, defeating Nirbhay Gaude in the 4th round and overcoming Daksh Kathrani in the 3rd round to maintain a perfect score. Vivaan Kadam also kept his momentum going, registering victories against Dwennon Jake Viegas in round 4 and outplaying Shrihan Chougale in round 3 to join Evan at the top.
In the Girls Category, Aaradhya Dessai impressed with a strong performance, beating Adhvi Amol Terse in the 3rd round and Jigyasa Gawas in the 2nd round to remain in joint lead. Matching her stride-for-stride, Brahami Ramesh Mangasuli defeated Yajwari Tukaram Shetye in round 3 and Eliaza Phacelia Barreto in round 2 to also remain unbeaten with 3 points.
