The 1st All Goa Cadet Athletic Meet for boys and girls in the age categories of Under-8, Under-10, Under-12, and Under-14 took place on Saturday in Cuncolim.
The event, organised by Goan Athletics in collaboration with Maria Bambina Convent High School, Cuncolim, saw over 400 young athletes participate in various track and field events.
The meet was officially opened with a felicitation ceremony honouring two prominent figures in Goan athletics: retired SAI coach Avdesh Kumar Pal, known for his contributions to grassroots training, and SAG coach Patrick Soares, recognised for his ongoing work in nurturing young athletic talent in the State. Both were acknowledged for their long-standing commitment to athletics in Goa.
The competition featured a variety of events designed for cadet-level athletes, including sprints, endurance runs, broad jumps, long jumps, shot put (2kg), tennis ball throws, and the kids javelin throw.
