MARGAO: Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda prevailed over CAC Cansaulim 4-3 via the tiebreaker to enter the quarterfinals of 23rd Benaulim Villagers Cup, organised by Dando Boys Club Benaulim and played at St John de Baptista ground, Dando-Benaulim, on Friday.
The match started on promising note and Don Bosco had the first opportunity to take lead but Myron Fernandes' shot was blocked by Cansaulim goalkeeper in the sixth minute. Cansaulim's Slevin De Melo shot in the hands of Fatorda goalkeeper Acton Barbosa in the 20th minute. At the breather, both teams remained on 0-0 draw.
Changing over, CAC Cansaulim wasted three one to one chances through Elvino Fernandes, Aaron Fernandes and Rishley Soares in the 35th 45th and 58th minutes while Fatorda's Ashley Furtado, Hanshlum Furtado and Edison Dias wasted chances in the 38th, 50th and 56th minutes. Meanwhile, Cliff Barretto's powerful shot missed the target in the injury time as the ame ended in 0-0 draw at full-time.
In the tie-breaker, Roque Borges, Alfred Noronha, Hanshlum Furtado and Edger Noronha were on target for Don Bosco while Aaron Fernandes, Jesus D'Sa and Ashwin Fernandes found the net for CAC Cansaulim.
