Panaji: FIFA has lifted the ban on Mumbai City FC that prevented them from registering new players. This ban was imposed due to a solidarity payment issue with a Brazilian club, but it has now been resolved.
Recently, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) announced that the ban on Mumbai City FC was effective immediately. This decision came after communication from FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee.
Mumbai City FC has faced several challenges in the past. Last season, two of their foreign players, Rostyn Griffiths and Jorge Pereyra Diaz, were suspended for several matches following a dispute in a semifinal match against Odisha FC. As a result, Griffiths and the club decided to part ways on January 31, 2024. Pereyra later signed with Bengaluru FC in July.
With the ban lifted, Mumbai City FC can now register new players and strengthen their squad for the upcoming season.
