Fr Agnelo YSC Paroda blanked Arlem Youth Association 3-0 to secure a spot in the semifinals of the Simon Barreto Memorial inter-village football tournament, organised by Maina Sports Club at DYSA Ground, Curtorim, on Monday.
Both teams displayed an attacking mindset from the start, eager to break the deadlock, but neither could find the back of the net in the first half. In the 10th minute, Livon Clement of Fr. Agnelo fired a shot from the edge of the box, but it sailed over the crossbar. On the counterattack, Selwin of Arlem Youth Association provided a through pass to Garrison Fernandes, but Paroda's goalkeeper made a crucial punch to clear the ball for a corner. The first half ended in a goalless draw.
The second half saw all three goals. Livon Clement put Fr Agnelo ahead in the 38th minute, followed by Ashwan Fernandes scoring in the 43rd minute and Bradley Carvalho adding a third in the 48th minute to seal the victory.
