Cortalim Gymkhana capitalised on their opportunities to secure a convincing 2-0 victory against Patrong Sports Club in the Mormugao Zone GFA Third Division League match held at Tilak Maidan on Sunday.
Despite dominating the match, Patrong SC struggled with poor finishing, allowing Cortalim to take advantage through well-executed counterattacks. Cortalim opened the scoring in the closing stages of the first half, with Amit Naik finding the net in the 41st minute, followed by Vignesh Haldankar’s goal just two minutes later in the 43rd minute.
With a 2-0 lead at halftime, Cortalim defended solidly against Patrong’s attacks in the second half, managing to maintain their advantage. The match saw a tense conclusion, leading referee John Fernandes to issue red cards to Vignesh Mukund of Cortalim and Projot Pratap Thakur of Patrong for their involvement in a physical altercation.
Futebol Club, Shiroda YC play draw
Futebol Club YFA and Shiroda Youth Club played a 2-2 draw to share points in the GFA 3rd Division League football match played at Don Bosco Oratory ground, Fatorda on Sunday.
John Fernandes netted a brace for Futebol Club YFA while Elias Colaco and Kevin Dias scored a goal each for Shiroda Youth Club. The match between St Anthony SC Colva and United Club of Benaulim played at Dando ground benaulim ended in a goalless draw.
