The Parsem Kabaddi Organising Committee is set to host an exciting two-day All Goa Kabaddi Tournament on January 18 and 19. The second edition of the event, held in memory of Mahabaleshwar Vasant Surlikar, will be held under floodlights and promises to showcase top-tier kabaddi action as teams from across Goa compete for glory.
The tournament, organised by a group of 16 former kabaddi players from Parsem and Pernem, will also honour several key figures in the sport. Notably, Ramesh Desai, former president of the Goa Kabaddi Association, will be felicitated for his significant contributions to the development of kabaddi in the region.
The competition will feature 12 teams in the men’s section and six teams in the women’s section. Cash prizes will be awarded across both sections, with the men’s winners receiving Rs 25,000 and a trophy, and the runners-up earning Rs 15,000 and a trophy. Semifinal losers will also be rewarded with Rs 10,000. Additionally, three individual prizes of Rs 1,000 each, along with trophies, will be presented to standout players in the men’s section.
The women’s section will offer a similar prize structure, with Rs 15,000 and a trophy for the winners, Rs. 10,000 and a trophy for the runners-up, and Rs. 6,000 for the semifinal losers, along with three individual prizes of Rs. 1,000 each.
There is no entry fee for the event, and transport costs will be covered for all participating teams. The total budget for the tournament is Rs 3,25,000, and the major sponsor for the event is the Prabhudesai Foundation.
