MARGAO: Pilerne Sports Club secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club in a GFA First Division league encounter held at SAG Ground, Benaulim, on Tuesday. Pilerne held a 1-0 advantage at halftime.
Pilerne Sports Club demonstrated early dominance, creating several scoring opportunities. They capitalized on their pressure in the 40th minute, with Royston Pereira converting a penalty kick to give them the lead.
The second half saw both teams adopt an attacking approach. Sao Jose de Areal leveled the score in the 66th minute through Mohammad Mansoori. However, Pilerne Sports Club responded strongly, with Sahil Jalmi netting the decisive goal in the 86th minute to seal the victory.
