MARGAO: Parish Youth Nuvem scrape past United Sports Club, Seraulim by 1-0 to enter the quarter finals of the 18th All Goa Guirdolim Panchayat Cup organised by Guirdolim Club and played at Chandor Church Sports Complexon Thursday
The match started with United Sports Club Seraulim dominating proceedings right from the word go. Nayab Khan was the livewire for Seraulim distributing passes at will for his strikers who were mostly wayward. Nuvem defended in numbers and had to thank their goalkeeper for keeping a clean slate in the first half whereas Seraulim had themselves to blame for not converting the many chances that they created in the first session. Both teams headed into the breather with the scores reading 0-0.
After change of ends Nuvem brought in experienced Niclau Colaco, this tactical move gave them the much needed boost. Nuvem slowly started dominating and in the 45th minute Roiston Barretto took a shot from distance which left the Seraulim keeper stranded and straight into the back of the net to make it 1-0 in favour of Nuvem. Seraulim tried their best to restore parity but again it was their forwards who kept misfiring. No more goals were added till end of regulation time.
Nayab Khan of USC, Seraulim was awarded the Player of the Match by Darwin Cardoso, General Secretary of Guirdolim Club.
