Rosary College, SS Dempo College dominate opponents

Rosary College of Commerce & Arts, Navelim, delivered a stunning performance against Govt. College of Commerce & Economics, Borda, Margao, winning decisively with a score of 10-0 in the inter-collegiate championship at Goa University ground.

The first half showcased Rosary's offensive strength as they built a commanding 4-0 lead. Goals came from Aeren Figueiredo (14th minute), Naythan Coutinho (16th minute), Sheldon Fernandes (25th minute), and A. Gomes (28th minute).

The second half saw Rosary continue their assault, adding six more goals to their tally. Flann Costa scored in the 53rd minute, followed by A. Gomes with two goals in quick succession (56th and 59th minutes). Jeff Dias added another in the 64th minute, and Garrison Fernandes and Ashwek Jadhav rounded out the scoring with goals in the 67th and 48th minutes, respectively.

In the second quarter-final, Dempo Charities Trust’s Srinivassa Sinai Dempo College of Commerce & Economics from Cujira, Bambolim, secured a 5-0 victory over M.E.S. Vasant Joshi College of Arts and Commerce, Zuarinagar.

S.S. Dempo dominated the first half, netting four goals. Swavel Furtado opened the scoring in the 5th minute, followed by goals from Mohit Kankonkar (10th minute), Roi Noronha (25th minute), and Kuber Bastwadkar (39th minute). Despite M.E.S. College's attempts to mount a comeback in the second half, S.S. Dempo extended their lead with a goal from Chirag Kauthankar in the 64th minute.

At the Rosary Church Ground, C.E.S. College of Arts & Commerce, Cuncolim, faced off against Parvatibai Chowgule College of Arts & Science, Margao, winning decisively with a score of 5-1. The first half was dominated by C.E.S., who scored all five of their goals. Livon Dias opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, followed by Saish Gaonkar (24th minute), Mujafar Dhalayat (26th minute), Dikshay Gaonkar (41st minute), and Livon Dias again in the 44th minute.

In the second half, Chowgule College improved their defense and managed to score a consolation goal through Johnathan Leitao.

In the second quarter-final at Rosary Church Ground, the Government College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Sanquelim, triumphed over VVM’s Shree Damodar College of Commerce & Economics, Margao, with a score of 3-1.

The Government College quickly established a lead with two first-half goals: Nakul Gawas scored in the 15th minute, followed by Say Mohammad in the 20th minute. They extended their lead to 3-0 with a goal from Aryan Salunke in the 56th minute. Shree Damodar College managed a consolation goal in the 70th minute, courtesy of Vishal Das, but it was not enough to change the outcome.
