A stunning performance by Shivam Velip, who scored a hat-trick, propelled Santa Cruz Society of Poitomado to a commanding 7-1 victory against Macazana Welfare Club in the GFA Third Division League (Salcete Zone) at Rosary Ground, Navelim, on Tuesday.
Santa Cruz dominated the match from the start, with Rowan Luke Gaunkar setting the tone by scoring in the 4th minute. Velip then doubled the lead in the 25th minute, followed by Hagan Diniz, who inflated the tally with a goal in the 37th minute. Velip added to his score in the 36th minute, showcasing his skill and determination.
The second half saw Santa Cruz maintain their momentum. Although Gilbert Fernandes managed to score a consolation goal for Macazana in the 77th minute, Velip completed his hat-trick in injury time, bringing the final score to 7-1.
Santa Cruz's offensive display left Macazana's defense struggling throughout the match, solidifying their position in the league.
