TOI to meet Prudent Media in inter-media cricket final

Times of India will clash with Prudent Media in the finals of the inter-media season ball cricket tournament, organized by SJAG at GCA ground, Porvorim on Friday.

The match will start at 9 am.

In their respective semifinals played on Thursday, Times of India beat Navhind Publications by 9 wickets, while Prudent Media defeated Gomantak by 13 runs.

In the first semis, Navhind Publications batted first and posted 75 for 6 in 12 overs. Sushant Chimulkar (18) and Joao Souza (10) were their main run scorers.

Prasad Patil (2/15), Rajtilak Naik (2/20), Rajan D (2/20) and Akhil Pillai (1/6) were among the wickets for Times of India.

Times of India chased down the 76-run target in 10th over losing only one wicket. Prasad Patil scored an unbeaten 39 and Akhil Patil remained not out on 23.

Anirudh Raul claimed the only wicket fallen in Times of India’s innings.

In the second semis, batting first, Prudent Media scored 75 for 5 in their stipulated 12 overs. Laxman Gawandi (27) and Pavan Zantye (17) were their main run-getters.

Nikhil Narvekar (2/23), Santosh Kubal (1/15) and Sachin Korde (1/7) were among the wickets for Gomantak.

Chasing the 76-run target, Gomantak could manage 62 for 7 in 12 overs and lost the match by 13 runs. Sushant Gawas (15) and Nitesh Chawan (12) were their only two main contributors.

Laxman Gawandi was the most impressive bowler for Prudent Media with figures of 2/17, and he was well supported by Avinash Joshi, Kuldeep Asgaonkar and Santosh Zantye who all claimed one wicket each.
