United Boys of Ambaulim defeated Carmona Sports Club 2-0 to secure a spot in the quarter-finals of the 18th All Goa Guirdolim Panchayat Cup at the Chandor Church Sports Complex.
The match began with Ambaulim dominating possession and creating early chances, but Carmona’s defense, led by veteran Yuri Ferrao, held firm. Carmona had a chance on the counter when Shaun missed an easy opportunity with the goal open. In the 17th minute, Ambaulim capitalized, with Sowell scoring a low shot to give his team a 1-0 lead.
Carmona had further chances, with Shaun missing a tap-in in the 24th minute, while Ambaulim also squandered a few opportunities. The teams went into halftime with Ambaulim leading 1-0.
In the second half, both teams created chances, but it was Ambaulim who struck again. In the 56th minute, Joel Barretto dribbled past defenders and scored a powerful shot into the top corner, sealing the win at 2-0.
Joel Barretto was named Player of the Match, awarded by Oswin Mascarenhas, Life Member of Guirdolim Club.
