United Club of Verna cruised into the finals of the 51st Custodio Memorial inter village football tournament with a convincing 4-1 victory over Curtorim Gymkhana, organised by Raia Sporting Club, at Raia Panchayat football ground.
Stephen Satarkar was the star of the show for United Club, scoring twice in the first half to set the tone. Clifton Rebello added a third before the break, leaving Curtorim reeling.
Despite a valiant effort from Curtorim, United's defense, anchored by Cyprus Noronha, Fulganco Cardozo, and Sairon Albuquerque, proved impenetrable. Milagres Fernandes managed to pull one back for Curtorim, but a late goal from Roydon Regi sealed the deal for Verna.
With this win, United Club of Verna will face Raia Sporting Club in the final on August 5. Stephen Satarkar was awarded the Man of the Match for his outstanding performance.
