MARGAO: United Club of Verna secured a convincing 3-1 victory over SCC Loutulim to progress in the 1st Fernando Abranches Memorial Trophy 2025, organised by UC Verna, at Verna Panchayat ground.
UC Verna took the lead in the 11th minute with a brilliant strike from Aglon Abranches, who showcased excellent skill and composure. The first half concluded with UC Verna leading 1-0.
In the second half, Abranches doubled the advantage in the 48th minute, scoring again to make it 2-0. Eldrich Fernandes then added a third goal, further solidifying UC Verna’s dominance.
SCC Loutulim managed to pull one back in the final moments of the match, with Aston Fernandes scoring a consolation goal. However, it was too little too late as UC Verna maintained control throughout the game.
Aglon Abranches was named the Star of the Match for his standout performance, including his two goals. The award was presented by UC Verna Joint Secretary Alban Fernandes.
