Agxem SC trounced Virabhat Sports Club 3-0 to clinch Batora United Curtorim Cup in the final of the 9-a-side football tournament organised by Batora United at St Alex Church Ground, Curtorim on Sunday.
Agxem opened the scoring through Nickson Casthana with a penalty kick in the 6th minutes. Two minutes later Savio Gomes doubled the lead for Agxem, than Venson Paes of Virabhat missed a chance to score in the 20th minutes.
Agxem further inflated the lead through Alroy Gomes in the 46th minutes.
Chief guest Bruno Lourenco, proprietor of Brunet group of companies gave away the prizes to the winners and runners up in the presence of Alcino D’Silva, sarpanch of Curtorim, Conceicao Dias social worker, Arnaldo D’Costa of Curtorim Gymkhana were also present.
Individual prizes awarded are: Best goalkeeper - Ignatius (Agxem SC); Best defender - Jovel Martin’s (Agxem SC); Best striker of the tournament - Nickson Casthana (Agxem SC); Best discipline team - St Anthony SC; Best promising player - Wellson (Virabhat); Best header - Velisco Paes (Virabhat).
