MARGAO
The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, also known as Fatorda Stadium, will serve as the home ground for Dempo Sports Club in the I-League.
The stadium has hosted multiple I-League clubs, including Dempo SC, Salgaocar FC, Churchill Brothers SC and Sporting Clube de Goa.
In the current I-League season, Goan clubs Dempo SC and Churchill Brothers FC will began by playing their first five rounds away from home, as per the fixtures released by the All India Football Federation (AIFF). However, as they prepare to return to their home games in January, Dempo SC is keen on ensuring strong fan support. Initially, they had planned to host their games at the Dempo Academy Ground, but the AIFF rejected their request due to insufficient facilities for I-League matches.
According to sources, FC Goa and Dempo Sports Club held a meeting, during which FC Goa agreed to allow Dempo SC, the five-time National League champions, to play their home matches at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. Dempo is currently in third place with 10 points in the league standings.
