Former Dempo Sports Club goalkeeper Melroy Fernandes has penned a deal to join FC Bengaluru United for the upcoming 2nd Division Qualifiers in Bengaluru next month.
Melroy comes with an experience in Goan football where he piled his trade for Sporting Clube de Goa, Churchill Brothers FC, ARA FC, Kenkre FC and Dempo Sports Club. His recent stint was with Dempo SC wherein Dempo finished runners up in the Goa Professional League 2020-21 season.
The 29-year-old Dramapur born goalkeeper is known for his fine reflexes having proven his mettle as rock solid under the bar.
Melroy represented Goa thrice in the National Football Championship for Santosh Trophy. He was part of the Goa team that finished runners up against Bengal when Goa hosted the championship.
“I’m delighted to join FC Bengaluru United and play in the 2nd Division Qualifiers in Bengaluru. I believe this is the start of a new relationship that can bear fruits in the future. I’m very determined to give results. I extend my gratitude to the coaches and management for putting their trust in me. Together, we must achieve greater heights,” said Fernandes.
“I am all set to put my best foot forward in every game with likes of Gilbert Olveira, Hayden Fernandes, Denil Rebello, Jaison Vaz and Stendly Fernandes who will provide necessary depth in the squad as they gear up for the season,” he said.
Talking about the fans, Fernandes said, “I can’t wait to meet the fans. I’m looking forward to a new experience for me, and we will win and qualify for the I-League.”
