With a semi-final spot already secured, FC Goa is gearing up for the final two matches of the 2024-25 Indian Super League league stage. The Gaurs, having clinched second place, are set to face Mohammedan SC and Mohun Bagan Super Giant in their last league encounters, but they’re not taking their foot off the gas.

Despite their guaranteed position in the knockout rounds, FC Goa is determined to finish the league stage on a high.

FC Goa’s impressive run this season is backed by solid numbers, with just one loss in their last 16 matches. This consistency has earned them a spot among the league’s elite, and much of the credit goes to head coach Manolo Marquez. However, Marquez has been quick to highlight the contributions of the entire squad in achieving this feat.

Looking ahead to their clash with Mohammedan SC, FC Goa’s recent form is nothing short of dominant, particularly at home. The Gaurs have won their last four home matches in the ISL, and another victory here would mark the third time in history they’ve secured five consecutive home wins in a season.

With a lethal long-range attack this year, including nine goals from outside the box, they are poised to break a milestone by becoming one of only five teams to score 10 or more goals from outside the 18-yard box in a single ISL season.

On the other hand, Mohammedan SC, struggling with form, have had just one win in their last five games and are sitting in the lower half of the table with only 12 points from 22 matches. Their recent clean sheet in a goalless draw against Odisha FC is their only bright spot in an otherwise disappointing campaign. Although they’ve improved defensively with three away clean sheets in 2025, they’ve also been vulnerable to aerial threats, having conceded nine headed goals, the highest alongside Hyderabad FC this season.

This match marks the second-ever ISL meeting between FC Goa and Mohammedan SC. The first encounter in September 2024 ended in a 1-1 draw, and another draw here would make Mohammedan SC just the third team that Goa has drawn with in their first two meetings.

For FC Goa, it’s been a season of growth, particularly after a slow start that saw just one win in the first six games. However, the return of key players like Sandesh Jhingan and Iker Guarrotxena has brought stability and strength to the squad.

As they prepare for their final two league matches, FC Goa’s focus remains on completing the job. With a spot in the semi-finals already secured, they are determined to finish the league stage strongly, eyes firmly on their ultimate goal – lifting the ISL Cup. The Gaurs' message is clear: the job is not done yet!
