FCGoa aims for strong start against Jamshedpur FC in ISL opener

Panaji: FC Goa will face Jamshedpur FC in their first match of the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 season on Tuesday at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda.

FC Goa, who finished third last season, are eager to start the new season with a win. Under their head coach, Manolo Marquez, the team aims to build on their strong performances, including winning their opening match five times in the past.

Jamshedpur FC, led by Khalid Jamil, are hoping to break their winless streak against FC Goa. The Red Miners have lost their last two games and haven’t beaten FC Goa in their previous four encounters. They are determined to avoid another loss, which could mirror their four-game losing streak from last season.

FC Goa head coach Manolo Marquez is focused on taking the season one game at a time. He emphasized the importance of approaching each match carefully and not getting ahead of themselves. “We need to start from zero and do what’s necessary to win the match,” Marquez said.

Jamshedpur FC coach Khalid Jamil, known for leading NorthEast United to the ISL playoffs in the past, is looking to replicate that success with his new team. He stressed the need for a strong start and confidence from his players. “We need a good start and must perform with confidence,” Jamil said.

Goalkeeper Amrit Gope added that Jamshedpur FC has prepared well during pre-season and is confident about the upcoming match. “We’ll try our best to start the season on a positive note against FC Goa,” Gope said.
