The Goa Football Association (GFA) appealed to the state government to release the Rs. 6 crore allocated to the association in the March 2023 budget. In a letter addressed to Sports Minister Govind Gaude, GFA General Secretary Adlear D'Cruz highlighted the delay in receiving the promised funds while also making a strong case for an annual budgetary allocation of Rs. 9.65 crore to support football activities in the state.

“We are grateful for the Rs. 6 crore allocated to the GFA in your budget speech in March 2023. However, the sanctioned amount has yet to be received,” the letter stated.

The GFA expressed its gratitude to the state government for its continued support in uplifting the standard of football in Goa, enabling the association to organize several development initiatives. “We are extremely thankful to you and the Government of Goa for all the assistance provided thus far. With your support, we have been able to enhance football in Goa and organize more initiatives for its growth,” the letter added.

The GFA also mentioned previous correspondence with the government on the matter, including letters sent on March 23, 2023, September 11, 2023, and October 22, 2024, regarding the annual budgetary allocation.

“We require an estimated amount of Rs. 9.65 crore annually to conduct our activities professionally and further develop the game in Goa,” the letter concluded, urging the government to approve the requested funds to continue advancing football in the state.
