Goa boys team emerged runners-up while the Goa girls team finished joint third at the All-India Tennis Ball Cricket Championship, held at Agra, Uttar Pradesh, which concluded on Thursday.
The Goan boys team lost to hosts Uttar Pradesh by nine runs in the final.
Goa restricted UP to 42-7 in 6 overs with Yash Anand (3/8) and Smitesh Sawant (2/4) starring with the ball. In their chase, Goa could only manage 33-6 with Sagar Gawde top-scoring with 15. Dharshan Kholkar (10) was the other major contributor.
Earlier in the quarter-finals, Goa boys beat All India Industrial Board, Tatanagar by five runs. Goa posted 38-4 in 6 overs before restricting the opposition to 33-3. In the semi-finals, Goa beat Western UP by 15 runs after posting 54-4. Goa's Sagar Gawde of was awarded as the Best batsman of the championship.
In the girls section, Goa girls and Tamil Nadu girls finished in joint third place. Uttar Pradesh teams secured a double crown, winning both the titles for boys and girls.
