Goa registered an innings and 169 runs win over Mizoram in their Ranji Plate group match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Thursday.
After trailing Goa by 351 runs, Mizoram who were forced to follow-on, were bowled out for mere 182 in 41.5 overs just before tea in their second innings.
It was always going to be a herculean task for Mizoram to save the match.
Agni Chopra was the only batsman from Mizoram who showed some resistant. His valiant knock of 72 off 82 balls that included a six and 10 fours showed glimpses of brilliance.
Coming at number three position, Chopra along with opener Marty Lalrinhlua put on a valuable 62 runs partnership for the second wicket before Lalrinhlua was dismissed by Mohit Redkar for 16.
Mohit Jangra (30) and Vikash Kumar (24) did try to put a fight in the end but it was not good enough.
Mizoram needed a big partnership which never happened and their wickets started falling at a regular interval.
It was a superb bowling performance by Goa.
For Goa, Mohit Redkar (5/43) picked up his fourth five-wicket haul. Darshan Misal (2/33) and Rahul Mehta (2/51) took two wickets each while Heramb Parab (1/31) took a wicket.
