Panaji: Goa pulled off an impressive upset on the opening day of the 29th Senior Women's National Football Championship for the Rajmata Jijabai Trophy 2024-25, defeating defending champions Tamil Nadu 1-0. The match took place at the TMK Arena in Panniyankara, Kerala.
Goa's victory came in the 20th minute when Sushmita Jadhav unleashed a powerful left-footed shot from long range, finding the back of the net and securing the win for her team.
This result marks a strong start for Goa in Group A, while Tamil Nadu, who reached the semi-finals last season, faced an unexpected setback.
